Chicago quartet sets Christmas concert in Butte

A vocal quartet from Chicago, pictured above from left, Rebecca Olthafer, Tim Janecke, Daniel Peretto and Olga Saad, perform Dec. 10 in Butte's Mother Lode Theatre.

"A Night of Christmas," featuring Tim Janecke, Rebecca Olthafer, Olga Saad and Daniel Peretto, starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the Mother Lodge Theatre, 316 W. Park St., hosted by the Montana Tech Nursing Department.

The vocal quartet performs in theaters in Chicago. Proceeds benefit the nursing department. Tickets are $25 for the balcony and $30 for the main floor and mezzanine. For tickets, call 496-4278. Tickets also can be purchased online at https://go.mtech.edu.

About the performers:

  • Tim Janecke has been a professional singer working in the Chicago area for the last eight years. He earned his bachelor of music in vocal performance from Millikin University and his masters of music in vocal performance from DePaul University. In May, Tim performed solo parts for the Chicago Symphony Chorus' 50th Anniversary Concert.

  • Rebecca Olthafer has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Madison Opera, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Music by the Lake, Opera for the Young, Rochester Aria Group, and UW-Madison Opera. She has a doctorate in voice from UW-Madison and has apprenticed with Operafestival di Roma, Opera North and Dorian Opera Theatre.

  • Daniel Peretto completed his masters in music at Northwestern University in 2004 and since has pursued a career in singing. He has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago as a chorister (2004-2008), among other groups. Other accomplishments include winning the young artist's division in the Chicago Bel Canto Competition in 2006.

  • Olga Saad received her bachelor of music in vocal performance from Friends University, and her master's at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studied opera performance. She has performed in a variety of operas and musicals.
