" Are people really stupid enough to think that NYC was never wild, as Mt. is today? New York has huge Black Bears that are hunted, Moose, Deer, and many other animals to hunt. It also has ranches and Farms. The big predators were driven out of NYC area gradually since NYC was founded. If these "I just don't understand" fools are so big on these killing machines being in OUR back yards perhaps we should transplant some back to NYC?

rosieo, hamburger comes from cattle raised on ranches(it doesn't originate at McDonalds). Cattle also provide everything from the jelatin in your jello-shots, leather in your patent shoes and purse, fertilizer for your pot/cucumber/lettuce/tomato/asparagus/mushroom/wheat/beans/etc. crops, and countless other things. Where would you have Ranchers raise these cows, NYC perhaps??? Wolves were eradicated from the lower 48 for a reason you obviously "don't understand" but just because you "don't understand" why, doesn't mean it was/is wrong. The REAL "wrong" that's been done is their re-introduction.

Wolves aren't just predating livestock. They're also wiping out our Elk and Deer herds. In yesterday's paper (Missoulian I think?) there was an article stating that Wolves alone are killing 13% of Idaho's Elk population per year. At that rate, assuming Wolf numbers don't increase, Elk in Idaho about 8-9 more years before they're eradicated.

To see these results for yourself drive through Yellowstone Park. The days of seeing Elk by the hundreds are gone. You'll see plenty of Grizzlies and Wolves and only the rare Elk.

Is the romantic notion of a few, to fantasize about hearing a Wolf howl, worth depriving the thousands of hunters the Elk they seek to feed their families? Is it worth the millions of tax dollars wasted on Wolf management (damage control) that could go toward education, tax reduction, feeding our own hungry, sheltering the homeless, etc.??? When the exponentially-increasing number of Wolves run out of wild game for food, they'll turn to what's left. They'll turn to livestock, then pets, then.....? How long until they start attacking people for food? "
