Book signing in Deer Lodge DEER LODGE — During the Christmas Stroll Dec. 6 in Deer Lodge, from 2 to 4 p.m., two authors will sign books and meet the public at Browsing Bison Books, 515 Main St.
Stan Lynde will sign his newest book, "Vendetta Canyon," and Judith Bird will sign her book, "If Warriors Wept." Set in (fictional) Meriwether County, Montana, "Vendetta Canyon" is a fast-paced tale of men and families in a time when competition for grazing rights on the open range frequently led to violence.
Lynde, a nationally known cartoonist and author, (remember Hipshot, Rick O'Shay, Latigo and Grass Roots cartoons?) was raised on the Crow Indian Reservation in southeastern Montana. He is regarded as an authority on the lore, legend, and history of the American West.
Bird's book tells the story of a badly wounded Marine unable to deal with his newfound physical limitations. Angry about surviving combat, he becomes romantically involved with his physical therapist, but his dysfunctional family history threatens to undo the relationship.
For details, call the book store at 846-3288.
