Holland-Stergar hits Country Club ace Patrick Holland-Stergar recorded the first ace of his golfing career on Sept. 22 at the Butte Country Club. Holland-Stergar, a sophomore on the Butte High golf team, was playing a practice round when he hit the 120-yard gem on the par-3 14th hole using a pitching wedge. Witnesses were teammates Ty Miller and Beau Randall.

F rontier names soccer players of the week BILLINGS (AP) — The Frontier Conference has announced its women's soccer players of the week for the past two weeks.

For the week of Oct. 8, Sam Davies and Jessica Selmer, both of the University of Great Falls, were honored.

Davies, a freshman goalkeeper from Sacramento, Calif., recorded five saves on six shots on goal as Great Falls tied Jamestown College 1-1.

Selmer, a junior forward from Laramie, Wyo., scored UGF's goal in the Jamestown game.

For the week of Oct. 1, Missy Peters and Anna Clark of Rocky Mountain College were honored.

Peters, a freshman defender from Fremont, Calif., had an assist and contributed defensively during Rocky's 7-0 shutout of Jamestown College.

Clark, a senior forward from Hidiksval Sweden, scored two goals and recorded two assists in the win over Jamestown.

Katelin Loring wins roping would title Katelin Loring recently won the world title in break away roping at the 33rd Indian National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, the Missoulian newspaper reported.

After four rounds, with a roping average of 13.8 seconds, Loring edged second place Saddie Johnson by nearly a second to give her the win.

Loring is a Arizona State graduate, currently enrolled in the master's program at the University of Montana. She is the daughter of Tana Loring of Missoula and Mike Loring of Cut Bank.
