Women in faith conference set Women United in Faith, an interdenominational Christian women's group, is hosting its seventh annual conference, Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the War Bonnet Hotel, 2100 Cornell.
The conference, called "Don't Worry, Be Happy," will feature talks, music, drama, prayer and dancing. Registration is $10 before Oct. 24 and $15 after that date. An optional buffet lunch is available for $11 and must be ordered with registration by Oct 24.

Church offering ‘emotions' workshop Butte Unity Church at 300 S. Montana is sponsoring an introduction to Emotional Freedom Techniques from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.
The cost is $35 per person.
The techniques are to help people handle life's emotional disruptions. Proceeds go to the church.

Habitat seeking volunteer signup Butte Habitat for Humanity leaders are setting the goal of inviting 1,000 volunteers to take part in its newly developed online volunteer sign up system at www.habitatswmt.org covering Butte-Silver Bow, Jefferson, Madison, Powell, Beaverhead and Granite counties.
"We're hoping to sign up hundreds of new volunteers in this region and in Butte, and at least 100 new volunteers in each of the counties in our service area," said Mike Nutter, president of the Southwest Montana affiliate.

Park St., Suite 214, Butte, MT 59701 ‘Friends' plan book sale The Friends of the Tech Library will hold their annual book sale on Homecoming weekend, Friday, Oct. 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the library.
A wide range of categories will be available, including fiction, non-fiction, history, crafts, cooking, sailing, children's books, women's issues and text books.
Proceeds support Friends of the Library activities.
Kennedy school sets book fair Kennedy Elementary School will hold a week-long book fair, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6-10.
On Tuesday, a family event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with face painting, a "build a book party" at 7 p.m., and special guest readings.
On Thursday, a community event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with face painting and a performance of "Tales of Trickery" by the Orphan Girl Theatre troupe.

Park's hot springs are lecture topic DILLON — A discussion of viruses in Yellowstone National Park hot springs starts at 4:15 p.m. Monday on the Montana Western campus, Block Hall 311, in Dillon.
The speaker is Martin Lawrence, an associate professor of chemistry at Montana State University. The talk is part of an ongoing series.
