Hollymoons

Where do celebs go for honeymoons?

By Brianne DiSylvester of The WeddingChannel.com - 09/27/2008

No matter how long or how short the union, celebrities always take advantage of their honeymoon time. Some go casual and stay within the US, while others go all out and travel the globe. Check out where the hottest celebs spent their "Hollymoons" — you may get a few ideas of your own.

UNITED STATES Not all celebs love to jet set around the world. Some prefer to stay close to home and vacation within the U.S. For example, stars like Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock reportedly chose to spend their honeymoons with their husbands at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif. Meanwhile, actresses like Geena Davis and Andie MacDowell hit the East Coast with their grooms. Other stars like Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller have opted for the tropical beaches of Hawaii. Former Friends star Matt LeBlanc took it a step further by having his wedding and his honeymoon on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.

UNITED KINGDOM Gray and gloomy...yeah right! Think rolling hills, grassy meadows, and picturesque landscapes. The United Kingdom (including Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales) creates the perfect old-world feel that Anglophiles and honeymooners alike adore. Kate Winslet and her former husband Jim Threapleton wed in England and spent their honeymoon touring the west coast of Scotland. Madonna and Guy Ritchie always travel in style, so it's no surprise they spent their honeymoon in an English castle owned by Sting and his wife Trudie Styler. Even New York staples Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick chose Ireland for their romantic honeymoon getaway.

CARIBBEAN Frolicking around on white sandy beaches by a clear blue ocean is at the top of the list for most postwedding ‘moons. From the Bahamas to the Dominican Republic, celebs can't get enough fun in the sun. Eva Longoria Parker and Tony Parker, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz all escaped the media at the nearly paparazzi-free Parrot Cay resort in Turks and Caicos. Solange Knowles and now ex-husband Daniel Smith honeymooned at the Old Bahama Bay by Gin sur Mer resort on Grand Bahama Island. And even oddball couple Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson got in on the action by celebrating their brief marriage at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic.

EUROPE Spain, France, Italy... they all have a "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" air about them, drawing in the creme de la creme of Hollywood. The king and queen of posh, Victoria and David Beckham, spent their honeymoon in a villa in the south of France, with little baby Brooklyn in tow. Jennifer Lopez and former husband Cris Judd honeymooned in Italy. Also, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher vacationed at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I in Barcelona, Spain.

SOUTH PACIFIC/AUSTRALIA If you already live in a gorgeous setting, who needs to jet off to some tropical island? Aussies Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer stayed in their native country and explored all of Australia after their nuptials, as did rockers Natalie Imbruglia and Silverchair singer Daniel Johns. The South Pacific is another popular option. Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline spent their whirlwind honeymoon in Fiji while newlyweds Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban set off for a romantic adventure in Bora Bora.
