By The Associated Press - 08/21/2008
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have identified a motorcyclist killed in a weekend crash as an Air Force staff sergeant from Montana who was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base.
A base spokeswoman says 27-year-old Cody Gene Herring of Ennis was killed in the 11:20 a.m. Saturday crash.
North Las Vegas police say Herring’s motorcycle collided with a pickup truck that turned left in front of him on Craig Road, not far from the base.
Herring was pronounced dead at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
Base officials say Herring was a staff sergeant in the 820th Red Horse squadron, a unit that provides heavy-duty construction and repair to military bases.
Police did not immediately identify the 57-year-old driver of the truck. He has not been charged.
