Martin repeats at Butte 100

Missoula rider William Martin is 2-for-2 in the Butte 100.
Martin covered the grueling 100-mile ride in nine hours, 49 minutes and 50 seconds to win the second annual Butte 100. Martin also won the first race last year.
Ben Parsons of Whitefish was second in just over 10 hours, while Basin’s Pete Behrenes was third at 10:09:02.
Among the 100-mile women, Kayleen Uibel of Kalispell was the only finisher in 12:49:15.
In the 50-mile race, Butte’s Krystal Smith topped the field in 6:56:25, while Ali Branson notched a finish of 7:42:00. Taking third was Mary Dean of Butte in 8:53:06.
The Men’s 50-mile award winners included Warren Smith of Butte (5:22:47), Sven Hertsens of Bozeman (5:48:15) and Andy Tocke of Helena (6:39:05).
Nine of the original 18 100-mile racers finished the course, while 13 of the 16 50-milers completed the ride.
