PHILIPSBURG — Tickets go on sale Monday for the annual Writers in the Round benefit performance, which is Sunday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m., in the Philipsburg Opera House.
Tickets are $25 for reserved seating only. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Moose Mercantile at 204 E. Broadway in Philips-burg, or by calling 859-2001 starting Monday at 10 a.m.
Helen Darling, Rob Crosby and Pam Rose will star in Writers in the Round, a popular format of the Nashville music scene in which artists per form on stage in an acoustic round-robin fashion. Proceeds will benefit The Granite County Historical Society.
Darling hit No. 1 on the charts with her song “Bring On The Rain,” recorded by Jo Dee Messina and Tim McGraw. This song was subsequently nominated for a Grammy, an ACM and a CMA award.
She started her career as a Chicago jingle singer recording television and radio commercials for such clients as McDonald’s and 7 Up. Her voice sang the familiar query, “Have you driven a Ford lately?” When not in Philipsburg, Darling is in Austin, Texas, working as a songwriter and a mother of two.
With three nationally released albums and eight chart singles, Crosby has toured with Travis Tritt, Reba and Brooks and Dunn, and has opened shows for Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Restless Heart, George Jones and others. Crosby’s new CD, “One light in the Dark”, has been released by the Dutch label, Dureco. Rose, of Missoula, has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and has won praise for her alliance with her friend Mary Ann Kennedy.
