Cubbies beat up on Reps
By The Standard Staff - 07/23/2008
HELENA — The Dillon Cubs closed out the regular season in style Tuesday night.
Cubs pitcher Dakota Norris didn’t let a one-hour rain delay bother him. Neither did the Dillon batters as the Cubs pounded the Helena Reps 10-3.
Norris pitched the distance in the seven-hit win, while Zach McRae hit two doubles and Donnie Moore and Kacy Schwend each pounded three hits to lead the Cubs.
Tim Goins doubled, and Schwend and Andy Peterson each drove in two runs.
Jake Harris drove in two runs for the Reps.
Norris didn’t register a strike out, but Cubs coach Randy Shipman said he was affective.
“He basically just controlled a good-hitting club the whole
game,” Shipman said.
The game was changed to one nine-inning game from a doubleheader because of the rain.
The Cubs, who host the Southern A District tournament this weekend, are 42-25 overall.
