Cameron man dies in mower accident
By The Billings Gazette - 07/18/2008
CAMERON — A man died in a mower accident near Cameron on Wednesday morning.
David Kraft, 18, of Cameron, was suffocated around 10 a.m. when a riding lawn mower fell and pinned him between the mower and the floor, Madison County Sheriff’s Sgt. Phil Fortner said.
Kraft, who was in an area south of Cameron on the Upper Kelly Ranch in Madison County, had raised the mower using a tire jack so he could repair a power take-off that would not engage when the mower fell on him, said Fortner, who is also the county coroner. Kraft’s father, David Kraft Sr., found him and reported the accident.
Fortner said the official cause of death was traumatic asphyxiation.
Kraft attended school in Laurel and Ennis. Services will be Saturday in Laurel.
