C. Robert “Bob” Miller announced Friday he is running as a Republican candidate for House District 71, which includes parts of Jefferson and Madison counties including Big Sky, Ennis, Virginia City, Harrison, Pony, Cameron and Cardwell.
Miller, 57, has owned the Bear Claw Grill in McAllister for 15 years with his partner Deborah Gregg.
Bob Wagner of Harrison, also a Republican, announced earlier that he also filed for the seat.
Miller said he is an active member in various business associations and spent time in Helena during the last two legislative sessions.
Miller said he supports land-use policies that don’t trample landowner rights; reforming property taxes; creating a more efficient education system; guarding sportsmen’s rights and providing public access to public lands and waters.
Miller is a citizen member of the Law and Justice Committee for Madison County and is a hunting, fishing, golf and purebred dog enthusiast.
Miller said he encourages any citizens living in House District to contact him anytime at his business at 682-4619 or cell phone 581-8438, or to e-mail him at bearclaw1@3rivers.net.
