Tech goes for season sweep of UM-Western

The Montana Tech men’s and women’s basketball teams will go for a sweep of Montana Western Saturday when the Bulldogs come to town for a Frontier Conference doubleheader.

The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m. at the HPER Complex. The men’s game will start at 8.

Tech’s men beat Western 72-66 Jan. 5 in Dillon.

The Bulldogs are 1-6 in conference and 8-13 overall.

Layne Glaus averages 14.1 points per game to lead the Bulldogs. Chad Myers adds 12.7 points per game, while Aaron Sims scores 11.9.

The Orediggers are 1-6 and 5-16 after six straight losses.

Dusan Veselinovic is Tech’s top scorer with 16.4 points per game.

Jeramie Hopson (13.2 ppg) and Tony Trudnowski (10.7) join Veselinovic in double digits.

On the women’s side, the Bulldogs will try to avenge the 88-79 loss to start the conference season.

The Bulldogs are 3-4 in conference play and 15-7 overall.

Jill Dana leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 13.7 points per game. Chloe Mosey adds 10 points to the lineup, while Laura Shea leads the team in rebounding with 7.4 boards per contest.

Montana Tech is 2-5 and 9-12 overall.

Jessie DePell leads Montana Tech with 12.9 points per game. She is followed by Jenessa Todd at 9.2, Natalie Shaw leads the team in rebounding with 6.2 rebounds per game.
