Micheal Ray to coach Oklahoma City Cavalry
By The Associated Press - 05/30/2007
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (AP) — Micheal Ray Richardson, the former Knick and Net whose comments about Jews to a newspaper last season drew a suspension from the Continental Basketball Association, was hired as the coach of the newly formed Oklahoma City Cavalry.
Richardson, a former University of Montana great, coached the Albany Patroons to the CBA championship series but was suspended after Game 1, when the league began investigating a report that he told the Times Union of Albany he had “big-time Jew lawyers” working for him.
Richardson, 52, was cleared by the league earlier this month and allowed to return to coaching, but Albany had already decided not to renew his contract. He said he has a lawsuit pending against the newspaper.
