Political documentary series starts tomorrow
By the Standard Staff
An eight-week series of political documentaries will be shown for the general public at 7 p.m. Wednesday evenings May 21 through July 9 on the Montana Tech campus.
The "U.S. Politics Today" series is a citizen-education project sponsored by Butte's peace seekers, Taking Action for Peaceful Solutions, the Montana Tech Liberal Studies Department and Sacred Ground.
The series works to inform citizens of the changes that have taken place recently in the way the American government operates and the way the political system operates, a group spokesman said.
Wednesday's documentary is called "Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media." The film documents political experiences of an MIT linguistics professor, Noam Chomsky.
Additional films in the eight-part series include Michael Moore's "Roger and Me," the PBS 2002 "Whose Vote Counts?" and Bill Moyers' 1999 "Free Speech for Sale."
The series is held in Room 113, Science and Engineering Building.
